Social Media Marketing:
Social Media Marketing (SMM) is the practice of leveraging web 2.0 platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube etc. to achieve business objectives or gain market share. Social networks are free tools where users create digital communities through blogs, timelines, videos, events, games, discussions forums etc. These online communities provide interactive experiences where members can collaborate on projects, express themselves freely and communicate directly with each other.
By 2007, Internet penetration exceeded 50% globally, thus became a powerful engine that enables SMEs reach out to consumers that might not have been possible otherwise. In an increasingly global market place, companies need to reach potential customers in a meaningful way that reflects their target customer profile. Social Media Marketing provides businesses with a cost-effective channel to connect and interact with current and potential consumer base. SMM is effective in creating brand awareness, increasing product sales, establishing authority factors, providing search engine optimization and gaining positive publicity. There are three primary types of paid social media advertising: Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Content Advertising, and Social Network Ads.
Each type of ad pays differently – SEO ads rank highly on search engines, while content ads appear on sites that focus on specific topics. Social network ads, however, only show up on social media websites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Marketers may use public relations to promote their products and services. Publicity includes press releases about new products and developments within existing products, articles written about the company or its people, and activities organized by the company to get noticed by journalists. A PR professional is hired to help coordinate interviews, respond to press inquiries, handle media requests and prepare materials for publication. Journalists who want to write about a subject are generally looking for experts who can give them information they cannot find elsewhere. You'll find that Facebook is free, easy to use, and offers great benefits for both small businesses and entrepreneurs. According to recent statistics, 81% of teens have a Facebook account.

You need to make sure they know your company exists though so first signup to facebook and create a small business page. Use facebook ads to promote your page if you wish, but don't spend money until you get at least 10 likes. Once you have achieved this, you should start promoting your page using paid advertising. If you want to increase traffic to your website then you can use Adwords to target keywords related to your product or service.
2. Twitter:

Twitter is also widely popular among celebrities and news outlets alike. Because it is such a useful tool, it's no wonder that 87% of U.S. adults follow someone on Twitter.
Make sure you follow relevant people in your industry and add them to your list of followers. Post interesting tweets, but do not spam people's timelines, and try to retweet other people's content. Get involved with hashtags and trends to gain more online attention.
3. LinkedIn
LinkedIn is similar to Twitter in that it gives its members the opportunity to post updates about their professional lives, but they differ in how the website works. In fact, according to research published in 2013 by the Content Marketing Institute, 71 percent of B2C brands were found to have a LinkedIn page.
